Building Capacity for Climate Resilience, Sustainable Agriculture, and Biodiversity Conservation

03 November 2025

Last week, The Nature Compact with funding from Conservation International under its Natural Capital Accounting (NCA) initiative, engaged more than 130 farmers across the Neegba, Burkor Point, and Timbo clusters in Rivercess County.

This training aimed to reduce pressure on mangrove ecosystems by equipping farmers with practical knowledge in Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) and Farming as a Business (FaaB).

Through these sessions, participants gained hands-on experience in sustainable crop management, improved productivity, and environmentally friendly practices that help safeguard biodiversity.

By integrating conservation and livelihood development, this initiative contributes to enhancing climate resilience, protecting critical ecosystems, and improving community wellbeing within the Cestos–Senkwehn landscape.

The farmers expressed great enthusiasm about the new skills and techniques learned marking a strong step toward sustainable agriculture and resilient rural livelihoods.
