Protecting Biodiversity through Law Enforcement and Community-led Initiatives Project
TNC is a member of a consortium that implemented the EU funded "PROBIO” project in the Southeast and in collaboration with the Forestry Development Authority (FDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Forestry Training Institute (FTI). PROBIO goal is to protect Liberia’s rich biodiversity through three key objectives:
• Improved Conservation of proposed and established protected areas
• Improved fight against Illegal Wildlife Trade
• Increased Conservation Awareness
Under the PROBIO project, TNC organized and trained 25 Community Eco-guard and supported forest patrol and biomonitoring, developed National Environmental Conservation Curriculum Framework Elementary, Junior and High schools, and established and operation10 Environmental Conservation (EC) Clubs benefiting 300 students as conservation Ambassadors educating their peers and household on the importance of biodiversity conservation. after gaining knowledge of the critical themes of conservation and the environment.
