Strengthening Conservation and Effective Governance of Liberia’s Critical Forests in the Northwest Liberia Landscape
As one of the national implementation partners, TNC is implementing Component 3: “Strengthening transboundary watershed and forest landscape management” of the Liberia GEF 8 Child Project with the following outcomes:
1. Strengthened institutional structures for transboundary collaboration between Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia for improved management of the Mano watershed
2. The functioning of At least three (3) committees supported to undertake actions for joint cross border natural resource management the committees established under the IUCN-MRU- IWRM Project to support improved management and sustainable use of river basin resources operationalized and institutionalized within MRU.
3 Facilitate the training of at least 20 people in applied research as part of capacity building to inform decision-making in watershed management.
4. Implement at least two nature-based initiatives to improve freshwater ecosystem health and mitigate climate change impacts and riverbank deterioration.
