22 October 2021

Liberia’s 6.6 million hectares of pristine Tropical forests is rich in high endemism of animal and plant species. Sadly, illegal trade, habitat destruction, inadequate law enforcement has been Liberia’s biggest challenge. In the presentation, Mr. Goll spoke of the country’s effort to prevent illegal wildlife trade, the legal instruments currently being utilized to curb Illegal Wildlife Trade, the enforcement mechanisms, partners and community support, challenges, lessons learned, awareness efforts, success stories and policy recommendations.

Participants were opportune to interact with the presenter to understand the challenges and explore opportunities for programmatic alignments for field implementation. They just could not stop asking questions!!!!! It was amazing!

TNC wishes to extend profound thanks to everyone who participated in the learning session and it is our hope that the information gained will enable partners to collaborate and plan better.

The Nature Compact is grateful to Mr. Blamah Goll, Forestry Development Authority Technical Manager for Conservation for facilitating the learning session on the “Implementation of CITES and it’s benefits to Liberia”.
