In Nimba, we have commenced raising awareness on IWT issues around Community Forests. The purpose is to raise consciousness of the Wildlife Conservation and Protected Area Management Law of 2016, reduce the Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT), and promote biodiversity conservation practices with folks around Authorize Forest Communities (AFC).
We brought women, youth leaders, town and paramount chiefs and community forest management bodies (CFMBs) together for the training which aims to reach 500 persons by the end of the week.
Ultimately, we want to increase the work of Liberia’s Law Enforcement Sub Committee (LESC) - but strategically around the Authorized Forest Communities (AFCs) which are in the fringes of the East Nimba Nature Reserve.
