Forestry Development Authority-FDA, UNDP Liberia, and Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) engage with communities on The Nature Compact (TNC’s) #CBFM project:
The meeting was attended by citizens from the twelve beneficiary communities under the CBFM project in Mafala Community.
The engagement assessed the impact of the CBFM project on the communities so far, with primary focus on Community Forest Governance through the competition of the FDA’s approved 9-step process for attaining Authorised Forest Community (AFC) status and livelihoods through the VSLA program.
Receiving strong positive reviews, the citizens expressed thanks to #TNC with support from the #FAO for the level of progress and transformational changes they have experienced in Forest governance and biodiversity conservation.
The #FDA assured the communities that they will sign their Management Agreement for the #CFMA in the near future. The citizens expressed satisfaction with assurances of getting their Authorised Forest status soon.
The #UNDP praised the communities for their acceptance, participation and ownership of the CBFM project and looked towards a future of more partnerships.
