Our Team Leader was privileged to give a talk on Leveraging Partnerships to Achieve Conservation Outcomes: The Liberian Experience at the just ended Cambridge Africa Day here at the University of Cambridge. This is an annual event organized by Cambridge-Africa, a programme dedicated to supporting African researchers.
Dr. Bhaskar Vira chaired the session on Collaboration in Conservation, Climate Resilience and Livelihoods. As one of the high level professors who teach the Cambridge Masters in Conservation Leadership, a programme that has been revelatory to to many practitioners professional development.
It was also extremely exciting to share perspectives with Professor Eric Ngang (PhD) who spoke on Empowering Innovation: Developing Talent for Crop Resilience, Nutrition and Productivity in Africa, and Professor @Anil Madhavapeddy who spoke on Financing Forests: A Critical Approach to Halting Tropical Deforestation. They both shared so much in common as his case study focused on the Gola Forest REDD Programme
Thanks to Mastercard Foundation for the continued support and Cambridge-Africa for allowing Mr. Sayon to share the Liberian experience.
The journey continues, he hopes to always share Liberia’s stories - the successes, challenges and lessons as we strive to create partnerships, promote global collaborations to unlock financial mechanisms, and empower local people, private sector and governments to conserve forest and biodiversity and adapt, mitigate improve resilience to climate change impacts.
