Sinkor, Monrovia – The Nature Compact (TNC) a Natural Resource Management Organization in Liberia has made a significant donation of medical supplies to the Oncology Department of the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Medical Center as part of its annual charity and social responsibility program.
The donation was formally presented today at the JFK Medical Center in Sinkor by a TNC delegation led by its CEO, Mr. Borwen L. Sayon. The assorted medical supplies included cartons of iv fluids, iv tubings, emergency medications, and other essential consumables required for oncology care.
Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Sayon stated that the donation reflects TNC’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and critical national institutions. He emphasized that TNC is aware of the significant challenges faced by cancer patients in Liberia, particularly in relation to limited resources within the country’s healthcare system.
“This donation is part of our annual charity initiative, driven by our understanding of the pressing needs within Liberia’s health sector, especially cancer care,” Mr. Sayon said. “We commend the current administration of the JFK Medical Center for the progress being made to improve healthcare delivery, particularly within the Oncology Department.”
Receiving the donation on behalf of the JFK Medical Center administration, Dr. Tamba, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), expressed appreciation to The Nature Compact for its timely and thoughtful intervention. He described cancer as one of the most challenging health issues confronting Liberia and acknowledged the constraints under which the Oncology Department continues to operate.
“The Oncology Department is still a relatively new unit, and while it faces many challenges, it has made notable strides in improving services for cancer patients,” Dr. Tamba noted. “We are grateful to The Nature Compact for recognizing this need and providing tangible support.”
Dr. Tamba further assured that the donated materials would be used strictly for their intended purpose to enhance patient care and improve overall wellbeing at the hospital. He concluded by encouraging other institutions and organizations to emulate TNC’s example and support the JFK Medical Center in strengthening healthcare delivery nationwide.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Deddeh Supuwood, Head of the Oncology Department, commended TNC for extending support beyond its traditional sector. She highlighted the significance of cross-sector collaboration in national development.
“It is not common to see a natural resource management organization deliberately support the health sector,” Dr. Supuwood stated. “This gesture demonstrates leadership, compassion, and a holistic understanding of development.”
