Yesterday, on behalf of the National Oil Palm Platform of Liberia (NOPPOL), we held a legislative engagement with Senator Jim Tornonlar, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
The purpose was to present official copies of National Oil Palm Strategy and Action Plan (NOPSAP), raise awareness and explain the strategic objectives and its alignment with national economic strategy - Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD), and build consensus on the modalities for implementation.
The NOPSAP was officially launched by Madam Jeanine Cooper, Minister of Agriculture (MOA) on April 14, 2022. It is a collective stakeholder product meant to guide the production, expansion and sustainability of the oil palm sector in Liberia. The strategy development was funded by UNDP Conservation International Proforest in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and line ministries, Agencies and Commissions of Liberia.
